Amherst Township Tragedy:The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a tragic murder-suicide in Amherst Township, discovered on the morning of Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Authorities responded to the 300 block of Broadway Avenue around 7:30 a.m. after Amherst firefighters, called to a house fire, found the bodies of a woman and her 9-year-old son inside the home.
Preliminary findings suggest that the mother took her son’s life, set the house on fire, and then ended her own life, according to Captain Robert E. Vansant Jr.
