Geers, age 50, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2024, leaving his family, friends, and the Big Lake community in deep sorrow. Eric will forever be remembered for his compassionate nature, love for those around him, and generous heart. He made a lasting impact on countless lives, and his absence will be profoundly felt.

Funeral Services and Arrangements

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, with Pastor Luke Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Maine Prairie Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the ceremony on Thursday at the same location.

Eric Geers’ Life and Legacy

Born on July 2, 1974, in Rochester, Minnesota, to John and Carol (Hilary) Geers, Eric grew up in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1993. He continued his education at Rochester Community and Technical College and later earned a degree in elementary education from St. Cloud State University.

Eric dedicated his life to teaching at Big Lake Schools, where he left a remarkable legacy as a passionate educator. He influenced numerous students and colleagues, always willing to go the extra mile for their success and well-being. Outside of his professional career, Eric worked part-time at Cash Wise in St. Cloud and cherished spending time with his nieces and nephews, nurturing their growth with the same care and love he showed his students.

Eric’s Interests and Personal Pursuits

In addition to his commitment to education, Eric had a deep appreciation for the natural world. He often found solace in hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, whether it was playing cards, tending to his garden and poultry, or watching vintage westerns and war films, which highlighted his passion for history and storytelling.

Remembering Eric’s Spirit

Eric’s legacy as a kind-hearted aide and devoted educator will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be cherished by his parents, John and Carol; siblings, Stephanie (Jim) Duda, Heather (Josh) Helberg, Aaron (Jaime) Geers, and Emily (Josh) Sigrist; and his beloved nieces, nephews, great-niece, and great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Neil and Sally Hilary, Henry G. and Geraldine Geers, and his aunt, Sandra Rothstein.

The pallbearers for the ceremony include Jim Duda, Jared Duda, Josh Sigrist, Josh Helberg, Jon Morris, Jessica House, Zachary House, and Jolene Duda.
